Families in our community will soon enjoy the benefits of the Middle School’s very successful holiday food drive in December. The GFMS “One Tribe” community donated almost 2,500 canned and dry goods to help under-resourced families served by the Salvation Army.

“I think that encouraging the kids to give back to the community where they live is a wonderful lesson,” said Student Senate Advisor Juliana Ogden. “Many also become thankful for what they have.”

GFMS Student Senate volunteers organized and promoted the food collection, which culminated in a large sorting effort on Thursday, Dec. 12 before the food was to be picked up.

The eighth grade brought in the most canned goods—1,182 items. This annual tradition has been going strong for more than two decades, involving the whole school. Way to be a force for good, GF Nation!
