Monday, June 7: Updates and clarifications on face masks

Dear Families and Staff:

As we navigate the return to pre-pandemic interactions, it is likely that New York State and/or the Departments of Health and Education will be issuing updated guidance in the days and weeks ahead. We remain committed to informing you of any changes in school procedures as quickly as possible thereafter.  Some updates and clarifications for today, Monday, June 7th, are as follows:

  • NEW: Student-athletes are no longer required to wear face masks outside, during practice or competition. Again, no masks are necessary for students, staff, or spectators outside on school grounds (at recess, on playgrounds, fields, etc.).

  • Due to the extreme heat we are currently experiencing, and based on conversations with Warren County Health Services, students who are seated and socially distanced can remove their masks for extended mask breaks in classrooms. Every classroom has enhanced air filtration in place, consistent with the district’s COVID-19 Reopening Plan, and is operating with windows wide open or air conditioning. Masks still need to be worn inside at all other times (in hallways, restrooms, gyms, etc.). Masks are also still required at all times on school buses.

Please continue to fill out the Student/Staff Health Questionnaire, as this survey is still required by NYSDOH. Thank you for all your efforts to keep GF Nation safe and strong throughout this exceptional year!
