Glens Falls Culinary Students Earn Top Honors at SkillsUSA Regional Competition

Two local culinary students are headed to Syracuse later this month after earning first-place honors at the New York State SkillsUSA Area 3 Regional competition.

Gaberial Leturgez and Frank Peña, both enrolled in the Culinary Arts Program at the WSWHE BOCES Southern Adirondack Education Center, showcased their talents in two separate categories. Gabe took first place in the Food Preparation Basic division, impressing judges with his precision and skill in crafting a classic Cobb Salad.

Frank earned top honors in the Restaurant Service category, where he demonstrated excellence in traditional American place setting for a four-course meal, as well as hospitality skills including guest greeting and seating, beverage service, reciting specials, order taking, food delivery, table clearing, and check presentation.

Both students will advance to the SkillsUSA State Conference in Syracuse, scheduled for April 23–25, where they will compete against top culinary students from across New York State.

Congratulations to Gabe and Frank on this outstanding achievement, and best of luck at States!
