Senior Awards and 2026 Winners:

Spirit of ’76 Scholarship (sponsored by the class of 1976): To a student who has set an extraordinary and visible example for other students to follow. This person has demonstrated the ability to positively influence others through his/her actions and behavior. This can be through excellence in academics, music, the arts, athletics, student government, other community leadership, and/or extraordinary enthusiasm. This person stands out as a visible example for a broad spectrum of students, not just those in his/her established niche. This person has preferably served his/her school and/or community in a leadership role via student government, athletics, the arts or other. Parker Mija

Susan H. Seaman Memorial Award: Potential recipients for this award are selected in eighth grade. Funds are granted to those students who have overcome obstacles to graduate with their class. Tairah Grant

Red Cross Blood Drive Scholarships:These scholarships are for seniors who helped organize the high school’s Red Cross blood drives. Mary Giblin, Jillian O’Brien, Taylor Patton

Joseph H. Nudi, Sr. Entrepreneur Scholarships: These two scholarships are to be awarded to students who have shown a desire to become an entrepreneur, and will be attending college to further their business education. These students must show enthusiasm, ambition, personal motivation, and a willingness to learn. They also have shown a desire to become part of the local business community. Nicholas G. Taylor, Jr. Business & Kindness Scholarship: This scholarship is for a student who is pursuing higher education in the field of business or finance, and has a reputation of being kind and respectful to their peers that they will continue into their college and professional career. The Myles Miller “Take a Giant Leap” Scholarship: This scholarship supports a student pursuing higher education at a local two-year college who has distinguished themselves through wisdom, character, and meaningful contributions to their community. Paige Nelson

Edward I. Gilman Scholarship: This scholarship is for students who will be majoring in business at SUNY Adirondack. Alondra Webb

Amberger Family Scholarship: This scholarship is in memory of Donald & Catherine Amberger. This year the scholarship will go to students pursuing degrees in a business or engineering related field. United States Marine Corps Awards:The United States Marine Corps High School Awards Program recognizes outstanding students who demonstrate excellence in academics, athletics, and musical performance.

Hall Family Entrepreneur Scholarship: This scholarship is to be awarded to a senior who has taken one or more business courses, and has overcome personal challenges. He/She should show a spirit of cooperation and entrepreneurial thinking. This award is to be used to help this individual attend college. Sadie Palmer, Chloe Wright

O’Brien Insurance Business Scholarship: This scholarship is for a student who has shown an interest in entrepreneurship and business ownership. The recipient must be hard working and show a willingness to collaborate with others. Ella Bray

O’Brien Insurance Heart of Gold Scholarship: The Heart of Gold Scholarship honors those rare individuals who embody the true spirit of selflessness and quiet compassion. This award is not for the student with the most service hours or the longest résumé - it is for the one whose kindness is second nature, whose generosity is woven into who they are, and who gives not for recognition, but simply because it’s the right thing to do. Cooper Ives

N. Harwood Beaty Jr. and Nancy S. Beaty Memorial Award: This award is to be given to a student who will be attending a four year college or university. The student must be involved in music and/or sports but not necessarily pursuing those as a major in college. He or she must be at least a “B” student academically, but most importantly must show strong moral character, kindness toward others, and an ability to laugh at themselves and stay positive in any given situation. Harvey R. Dearstyne, III Memorial Scholarship: This scholarship will be awarded annually to a graduating senior who has demonstrated leadership, interest in athletics, and has been an outstanding school citizen. Candidates for this scholarship should show promise of success in a four year, degree-granting program. The scholarship is derived from the income of funds which have been contributed in memory of Harvey R. Dearstyne, III, GFHS Class of 1972. Zachary Moore

Walter H. and Walter T. Robinson Memorial Scholarship: This scholarship was established in honor of the founder of our Glens Falls technology program. It is awarded to a senior who demonstrates outstanding ability, displays desirable personal qualities, and plans to pursue the field of technology in the future. Aidan Perry

Freeman Memorial Scholarship: This scholarship is to be awarded annually to a graduating senior who plans to enroll in a college or university to study English or Journalism. This student must have maintained a high average during their high school career. Ana Frankenfeld

Dr. Bruce Michael Kantrowitz Scholarship: This scholarship was established in memory of Dr. Bruce Michael Kantrowitz, Class of 1967, and is to be awarded annually to a graduating senior who has demonstrated academic excellence and is of good moral character – two of the top qualities for which Dr. Kantrowitz was noted. Preference will be given to someone planning to pursue a career in English – Journalism – Writing or Communication in general. Mary Giblin

Marina C. Wallace Memorial Scholarship: Mrs. Wallace was a dedicated staff member at Glens Falls High School for over 25 years, beginning her career in 1977 as an assistant librarian. She is remembered for her kind and giving spirit, a strong work ethic, and always smiling. Given to a senior planning to attend a two or four-year college who reflects similar qualities and shares an interest in literature, reading, and/or writing. Ro MacNaughton

Arts in Education Fund and Senior Portfolio Awards: Eligible to seniors who participate in the annual Art Expo event, showing their best work from the last four years. Judges look for a passion for artistic expression, merit, and creativity.

Cameron Jace Quartiers Memorial Scholarship: Offered by the board of Project: Cameron’s Story to a graduating senior who plans to pursue a 2 or 4-year degree in any area of the healthcare fields, is in good academic standing, and has a record of volunteerism. Chloe Wright

John A. and Mary Lou Noone Scholarship: Honors two long-time educators in the Glens Falls system. Recipients are selected based on the principles of education embraced by the Noones: scholarship, service to the community, and commitment to the youth of Glens Falls. Recipient must be planning to pursue a career in education. Trevor Driscoll

Tim Guy Memorial Scholarship: Honors the legacy of Tim Guy (U.S. Army veteran, retired Sheriff's Officer, and Little League president). Awarded to a graduating senior who plans to pursue law enforcement, EMS, or fire service and exemplifies values of service, integrity, and leadership. Donovan McAvey, Jaidynce Quinlan

E. Leo and Louise F. Spain Scholarship: Given in memory of prominent local businessman E. Leo Spain and his wife Louise. Awarded to a graduate of St. Mary's-St. Alphonsus Regional Catholic School planning to further their education. Sean Layden

Edward M. Bartholomew, Jr. Memorial Scholarships: Awarded to two graduating seniors in memory of the former Glens Falls Mayor (Class of 1967). Given to students planning to attend a 2 or 4-year college who demonstrate potential and financial need, have participated in school sports or activities, and performed community service. Sarah Conduzio, Trevor Driscoll

JWP Champ Scholarship: Given to a senior who represents the qualities of Joe, a 40-year English and Latin teacher who faced Multiple Sclerosis with optimism. Candidates must have participated in athletics, the arts (drama, music, art), and have an optimistic, unselfish outlook toward becoming an educator. Macklin McGrath

Barclay Prize for Philanthropy: Acknowledges a senior who celebrates the team more than the individual, is reliable, and gives back. The recipient is asked to contribute a significant portion of the prize award to a charitable cause of their own choosing. Chloe Wright

McClure (“Mac”) Edward Deason Memorial Scholarship: Given in memory of Mac Deason to seniors planning to attend a 2 or 4-year college to pursue studies in the medical field. Recipients must exhibit leadership, compassion, respect, academic excellence, and courage in the face of adversity. Lillian Dybas, Hailey Sutliff

Glens Falls Police Benevolent Association Scholarship: For college-bound seniors planning to pursue studies in a criminal justice or law-related field. Allie Mija, Parker Mija

Glens Falls Permanent Firemen’s Benevolent Association Scholarship: Provided to a student planning to attend college, based on character, scholastic record, and probable success. Jaidynce Quinlan

Scott Wilson Memorial Scholarship: Honors a former member of the Class of 2004. Awarded to a senior planning to pursue a career in an art-related program, particularly Graphic Art or Design. Connor Chance

Class of ’77 Scholarship: Awarded to a student pursuing higher education in a mental health field (psychology, social work, counseling) who has demonstrated high academic achievement and an interest in helping others. Hailey Sutliff

Bill Kennedy Memorial Scholarship: Honors the former principal (1983-1998). Awarded to a graduating senior who consistently exemplifies the district's core values: character, excellence, and community involvement. Vivienne Cerro

P.E.O. Star Scholarship: Recognizes graduating high school women who exhibit excellence in leadership, academics, extracurricular activities, and community service. Sadie Palmer

Dylan Balcom Memorial Student-Athlete Scholarship: Established in memory of a 2017 graduate and 3-sport athlete. Recognizes student-athletes who value hard work, uplift others, and always put the team before themselves. Jake Burns, Chloe Wright

Joey Yanklowitz Kindness Matters Scholarship: Awarded in memory of Joey (Class of 2011), who was known for compassion, respect, and kindness. Given to a senior who represents these qualities, loves sports, or enjoys cooking. Trevor Driscoll

Glens Falls Teachers’ Association Scholarship: Awarded to a graduating senior pursuing studies in the field of education at a four-year college, who is in good scholastic standing with good citizenship. Macklin McGrath

Glens Falls Teachers’ Association Alumni Scholarship: Awarded in memory of former members of the GFTA to a deserving senior who is a positive contributor and exhibits the spirit of GF Nation. Myles Tucker

Robert O’Connor Scholarship: In memory of trusted local veterinarian Dr. Bob O'Connor (Class of 1969). Awarded to a student going into a science field at a 2 or 4-year college. Sarah Conduzio

Glens Falls Kiwanis Foundation Anthony J. “Tony” Palangi Scholarship: Awarded to graduating seniors who are active participants in Key Club and are pursuing additional education to build leadership skills through service. Sadie Palmer

Saratoga-Warren County Music Educators’ Association Scholarship: Awarded to an exemplary student musician who has been regularly selected to participate in NYSSMA musical ensembles. Rebecca McPhee

Glens Falls Music Department Scholarship: Awarded to a senior actively involved in the district’s music program who plans to continue musical pursuits after graduation. Macklin McGrath

Margaret and Louis Feigenbaum Scholarship: Awarded to a deserving student distinguished in academics and community service who plans to attend a 4-year, non-religious, private college for teaching, science/engineering, history, or law. Abbey O’Hara

James Digan Culinary Scholarship: Goes to a graduating student planning to pursue a career in the culinary or hospitality field based on need and potential. Isabella McMahon

Dave Strader Scholarship: Honors the Hockey Hall of Fame broadcaster (Class of 1973). Given to a graduate exhibiting sound character, collaboration, and a love for the Glens Falls community. Isaac Buckowski

Robert J. and Sally Q. Homkey Memorial Scholarship: Awarded to a well-rounded senior enrolled in a 4-year university who demonstrates achievement, commitment to arts/athletics, and community service. Echo Poole

Thomas I. Ford Memorial Teaching Scholarship: Granted to a graduate who is giving, inclusive, and kind, and has decided to pursue a degree in teaching/education. Rebecca Hosler

Thomas Collins “Wingman Strong” Memorial Scholarship: Presented to a student showcasing a larger-than-life personality, determination, and community leadership through athletics, music, arts, or student government. Chloe Wright

Adirondack Area School Boards Association Community Service Award: Awarded to graduating seniors who are shining examples of volunteer service within their school and community. Jillian O’Brien, Chloe Wright

Graham Easson Scholarship: Awarded to a member of the graduating class who exemplifies character, scholarship, and citizenship. Carson Brown

Julia Corbett Herlihy Prize: Selected by faculty vote and awarded to a senior based on intelligent leadership, judgment, skill, courage, and unselfish service. Chloe Wright

Stanley E. Rummel Scholarship: Given to a senior exhibiting cooperation, empathy, and altruism, potentially overcoming personal or educational obstacles with a clear sense of purpose. Connor Chance

Betty Spadaro Community Service Award (Queensbury Senior Citizens): Offered to a senior demonstrating outstanding commitment to community and volunteer service throughout high school. Ella Bray

International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees Scholarship: Awarded to a student pursuing studies in the performing arts (theater/drama, music, dance) as a performer or related field. Ro MacNaughton

Richard W. Derby Scholarship: Given to a senior boy planning to enter college who represents the highest qualities of character, scholarship, and sportsmanship. John Tallon

Charlotte Pruyn Hyde Award: Made to a graduating senior for post-secondary expenses based on significant service rendered to school or community. Jillian O’Brien

James Orlow Muse Scholarship: Awarded to an athlete who achieved success through perseverance, dedication, and discipline rather than natural ability, showing grace and compassion. Mary Giblin

Putt & Anne H. La May Memorial Scholarship: Awarded annually to a student-athlete pursuing a career in Physical Education, Health, Recreation, and/or a sports-related field. Piper Eddy

Anthony & Joan Scott Memorial Scholarship: Recognizes a senior excelling in outstanding community service through school or the local community. Audrina Downey

Sandy Hill Foundation Scholarship: Scholarship grants for college education offered to assist qualifying young women and men. Sadie Palmer

Margot Reis Scholarship: Awarded on the basis of excellence in a particular field of study (academic or vocational). Chloe Wright
