V. NYSED Initiatives Alignment
1. How will the district's use of instructional technology support a comprehensive and sustained effort to improve student performance and academic standards, while also addressing the need to provide equitable learning opportunities “everywhere, all the time” (National Technology Plan)? The Glens Falls City School District uses instructional technology to support a sustained effort to improve student learning, academic performance, and equitable access to high-quality educational opportunities. Technology is integrated into teaching and learning across all grade levels to support instruction aligned to state standards, including the New York State Computer Science and Digital Fluency standards. Students regularly use technology to research, create, communicate, and demonstrate understanding, while teachers use technology to support instructional planning, assessment, and differentiation. The district emphasizes responsible and ethical technology use, including the development of AI literacy, to ensure that emerging tools enhance learning rather than replace student thinking. Professional learning, onboarding, and centralized instructional technology resources support consistent and effective use of district-supported platforms across classrooms and buildings. Equitable access remains a priority. A K–12 one-to-one student device program ensures that all students have consistent access to learning tools both in and out of school, while targeted supports are provided for students who need additional access. Reliable infrastructure, cybersecurity practices, and long-term planning further support learning “everywhere, all the time” by maintaining safe, stable, and accessible digital learning environments for students and staff.
