With the new COVID Omicron variant circulating in Warren County and 100+ new cases a day occurring among Warren County residents, Warren County Public Health is modifying the current K-12 grade quarantine guidelines for athletics/extracurriculars and busing for unvaccinated individuals. Starting this week Warren County Public Health will be placing all unvaccinated students involved with athletics/extracurriculars or busing into a mandatory 10 day quarantine period if they participated in a practice, games, etc. or were on a bus with a positive individual.
  • 56 GFSD individuals were rapid-tested on site today.
    • Testing results: 55 Negative; 1 Positive
  • Warren Co. Health Services is monitoring 882 active COVID cases as of 1/3.
  • 1,143 Warren County residents are under mandatory quarantine because of exposure to COVID as of 1/3.
    • (County data and the information italicized below are from the daily update on Warren Co. COVID Hub)

Warren County’s rolling 7-day average for test positivity stood at 13.7% and the Capital Region’s rate 15.5% as of Monday morning. Do not go to work or elsewhere into public when feeling ill. Quarantine until you are able to get a COVID-19 test.

For those seeking COVID testing, please note that the New York State mass vaccination site at Aviation Mall is BOTH a vaccine and COVID-19 testing site. Pfizer and Johnson & Johnson vaccines, including boosters and pediatric vaccines, are being offered Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays. This site offers COVID-19 testing on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. Find full details here: https://bit.ly/3xDoUuI.

Today’s summary COVID update for Glens Falls City School District uses the best information that has been reported to us, either by a local health department or by parents/guardians/employees. Remember that if any confirmed case requires a mandatory quarantine of other students or adults, we have already contacted parents and staff members separately by phone. The health, safety, and well-being of our school community remains our main focus. We will continue to work closely with WCHS on how to maintain a safe and healthy learning environment.
