The meeting was called to order by Mr. Graham, President, at 7:00 p.m.

1. MINUTES:

It was moved by Mr. Deason, seconded by Mrs. Greenwood, to approve the minutes from the August 12, 2019 Regular Board of Education Meeting. The motion was carried unanimously. (7-0)

2. SUPERINTENDENT’S REPORT:

  • The school year is off to a great start!
  • The Construction Project is almost complete. The traffic flow at Jackson Heights and Kensington is going well. We still have a few items at the High School that need to be finished. We are still waiting for the new school signs out front. Hopefully we will have everything completed by the end of September.

3. PUBLIC PARTICIPATION:

Catherine Hayes, and members of the Drama Club spoke to the Board asking if the District could have a musical every year instead of every other year.

4. REPORTS:

KENSINGTON PTA: Cassie Deason spoke on behalf of the Kensington PTA. The PTA Officers introduced themselves, and stated they are looking forward to being more present at School District meetings, and involved with district needs.

It was moved by Mrs. Culliton, seconded by Mr. Deason to approve the Consent Agenda. The motion was carried unanimously. (7-0)

9. OLD BUSINESS: None

10. NEW BUSINESS

The Board and Mr. Jenkins discussed the Board of Education Committees, and which day of the week the meetings should take place. The Board decided the committee meetings will take place on Mondays with a 6:00 p.m. start time. The Policy Committee, and the Negotiations Committee will meet as needed. The Athletic Committee will be changed to Athletics/Extra-curricular Committee to discuss the clubs in the schools, and what the clubs are doing along with the participation rate in each club and sport. The Public Relations Committee will be replaced with a Wellness Committee, but a public relations report could be given at one of the regular board of education meetings at the end of the year. Mr. Graham will send out an email asking the Board which committees they would like to serve on for the year.
