The meeting was called to order by Mrs. Maurer, President, at 7:00 p.m.

1. MINUTES:

It was moved by Mr. Graham, seconded by Mr. Deason, to approve the minutes from the August 13, 2018 Regular Board of Education Meeting. The motion was carried unanimously. (9-0)

2. SUPERINTENDENT’S REPORT:

  • We had a great opening. The buildings all looked good. We did have a hiccup this weekend, but everyone did a nice job handling it.
  • We are still waiting to hear about the Glenwood Property.
  • Mr. Jenkins explained the easement for Verizon which is listed on the consent agenda for approval. Verizon wants to put a cell antenna, but National Grid owns the pole. We still have to allow Verizon to access it because it’s on our property.

End of Consent Agenda

It was moved by Mrs. Greenwood, seconded by Mr. Graham, to approve the Varsity Boys Basketball Team Trip to Fort Meyers, Florida from December 19, 2018 – December 23, 2018. The motion was carried unanimously. (9-0) (attached)  Mrs. Stockdale noted the school district is not paying any money for this trip as the tournament organizers are providing funds for accommodations, travel, and meals. The Basketball Team will fundraise if they need additional money.

9. EXECUTIVE SESSION:

At 7:07 p.m., it was moved by Mr. Deason, seconded by Mr. Rivers, to adjourn to executive session to discuss a legal matter, and negotiations. The motion was carried unanimously. (9-0) Executive Session ended at 7:39 p.m.

It was moved by Mrs. Greenwood, seconded by Mr. Deason, to come out of executive session. The motion was carried unanimously. (9-0)

10.

At 7:40 p.m., the public portion of the meeting was reopened and the following actions were taken:

  • It was moved by Mr. Graham, seconded by Mr. Rivers, to approve the Secretaries Unit Contract. The motion was carried unanimously (9-0)
  • It was moved by Mrs. Culliton, seconded by Mr. Rivers, to approve the following resolution: RESOLVED, that the Board of Education hereby approves the settlement of the 2017 and 2018 Real Property Tax Law Article 7 proceedings The Mill dba The Mill Apartments v. Board of Assessment Review and Assessor of the City of Glens Falls and the City of Glens Falls which settlement is as follows:

1. The Assessed Value for 2017 shall be reduced from $7,022,950 to $5,351,500

2. The Assessed Value for 2018 shall be reduced from $7,022,950 to $5,544,000

3. The Assessed Value for 2019, 2020 and 2021 shall be set at $5,621,000

and it is further

Resolved, that the Board of Education hereby authorizes the payment of refunds from the proper account, and it is further

Resolved, that the Board of Education hereby authorizes the attorney for the School District to sign the appropriate Stipulation of Settlement resolving this matter.
