They’re the best in the state! Glens Falls High School vocalists Meghan Siergiey, Ryan Burchfield, and Trevor Britton have all earned spots in the prestigious New York State School Music Association All-State choirs.

Only nine hundred students out of thousands from high schools across New York State were selected to perform in the eight All-State vocal ensembles. The three student-musicians will sing at the beautiful Eastman Theatre in Rochester this weekend before hundreds of music educators, music students, family, and friends.

Meghan, a soprano and senior at GFHS, has been in several musical productions with Youtheatre, and in The Wedding Singer with Glens Falls Drama Club. She performed as a dancer in last year’s Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, and has choreographed dance numbers for several productions, including Lake George musicals. She takes private voice lessons with Pam Granger. “Meghan has impeccable attention to detail when reading and mastering a piece of music,” says GFHS chorus teacher Abigail Sery. “Whether in performance, group rehearsal, or practicing on her own, she gives 110 percent effort all the time.”

Trevor, a bass and senior at GFHS, has performed in several musical productions with Broadway Upstate, Youtheatre, and in the Glens Falls Drama Club’s The Wedding Singer. He has participated in several select choirs such as Area-All State and All-County. He takes private voice lessons with Carol Pines. “Trevor is an extremely capable musician who is always up for a challenge,” says Ms. Sery. “He worked very hard on a highly difficult and tedious NYSSMA piece last year, which is a snapshot of his determination.”

Ryan, a bass and junior at GFHS, performed in three productions with Youtheatre last summer as well as The Wedding Singer with Glens Falls Drama Club. He has participated in Area-All State and All-County choirs for many years. He takes private voice lessons with Pam Granger. “Ryan has a great work ethic when it comes to learning music and constantly challenges himself to practice well,” notes Ms. Sery. “He pushes himself and also takes teachers’ comments seriously in order to be the best he can be.”

The three were chosen for All-State by receiving near-perfect scores on their All-State solo and sight-reading auditions last May.
