The High School’s Advanced Pottery class had their ”Ice Cream Bowl Throw Off” last month and together created 65 bowls within 20 minutes! “This was the best throw off ever,” says art teacher Karen Mars.
Each year, student-created ceramic bowls are sold at the annual GFHS Art Expo as a fundraiser for senior art scholarships. “Beginning classes will now decorate and glaze the bowls in order to have them ready for the ice cream bowl fundraiser,” continued Ms. Mars.
“In addition to the bowls, all of our art students are busy creating their own masterpieces to display on this popular night,” says Ms. Mars. The 17th annual Art Expo is Thursday, May 16th, from 6:30 – 8:30 PM in the main hallways of the high school. Every art student, grades 9 thru 12, will be showing at least one piece of art he or she created during the school year.
The exhibition will include works in drawing, painting, ceramics, photography, 2D and 3D design, creative crafts, and computer art. Music will be provided by the Strolling Strings. The Seniors’ Portfolio Exhibit will also be on review. Admission is free and the public is invited.
