Glens Falls City School District takes great pride in the educational program that it provides to students and recognizes that collaborative efforts are essential to creating a successful learning environment. We appreciate your support and the role faculty, parents, students, and community members play in making Glens Falls City School District a place of excellence. Questions regarding the district's educational program should be addressed to Trent Clay, Director of Curriculum and Instruction.

calendar graphicEvery Student Succeeds Act: Info for Parents

The Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) is a law that outlines how states can use federal money to support public schools. This [ FACT SHEET ] highlights the important elements for parents and families in the plan. Schools and districts will be measured on student absenteeism (missing more than a couple days of school per month), student participation in state tests (law requires that 95% of students in each tested subgroup take the appropriate state tests), and more. See the [ FACT SHEET ] for further details.

Success in the New Economy: How prospective college students can gain a competitive advantage

“Success in the New Economy” aims to help a broader audience begin to understand preparation today for tomorrow’s labor market realities. The end result is a compelling case for students to explore career choices early, make informed decisions when declaring their college education goal, and to consider technical skill acquisition, real-world application and academics (career technical programs) in tandem with a classic education. This balanced approach to life and learning results in a well-educated and employed workforce. The complete transcription of the video with data references is available here.
